A Great TV! March 8, 2010 MikeSz (Vermont, USA) Overall, the TV is excellent:
Picture Quality: Excellent
Sound Quality: Rear-firing speakers not great but OK.
Remote: Good design
Menu: Easy to use and make adjustments
Installation and Setup: Easy; no problems.
Network wireless adapter: Use ONLY Samsung because of proprietary software; nothing else works. Easy to install.
Widgets: Not worth much but they're fun.
Delivery: No problems with Amazon delivery except 2 days late.
Sloppy transport of HDTV's March 5, 2010 Angus Uncleberry 2 out of 7 found this review helpful
--------- Not giving the TV 1 Star---------
When you buy a TV from Amazon they use a transport company called Pilot. My TV arrived in a yellow non-descript small van. I was outside to watch them unload and I was shocked to see that all the HDTVs in the van were vertical, they were not tied down and most were tipped over. It explicitly says on the box to store and transport these items horizontally. They should be sliding the boxes in and out of the van horizontally through the back doors!(not through the side doors). I'm glad I wasn't buying the Panasonic that was in the van. They don't even put a blanket or something on the floor of the van to cushion the ride.
Needless to say, neither Amazon nor Pilot really care about such matters. One look inside the van will tell you this.
Absolutely incredible picture! March 3, 2010 Grandon Gray (Boston, MA USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I'm not a techie. So, I can't tell you why the picture is so amazing, but you'll feel like you're looking through a window at real life. I just spent way too many hours watching the Winter Olympics, and this set blew me away--and my expectations were ridiculously high. If you've been on the fence, don't waste months like I did. Buy this tv and start enjoying it!
Samsung 8500 led tv March 2, 2010 Skip Elander (Newtown, CT USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This set has a phenomenal picture. While watching water scenes on a recorded show I felt as though I could reaceh through the screen and touch it. I would recommend it to anyone who wants the best pictue possible.
Slimline, streamline, LED TV, oh so fine March 2, 2010 Ryan Adler (Arizona) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My roommate's first words when he helped me open the package, "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!"
This is my first TV purchase, and I spent several weeks debating, sitting in oddly comfortable chairs at electronics stores, looking at displays, and reading specifications and reviews. I finally settled on the Samsung LED series of televisions. The LED series (6000, 7000, and 8000 series alike) share a very common thread, being remarkably clear and maintaining a frighteningly slim profile.
When I saw the chance to purchase the 8500 series, I jumped on it, for a few reasons, but the price was right for a TV that is going to last me quite a long time.
Televisions should be rated on how well they present the picture and if their stats live up to what they say. This television is hands down, top of the line, absolutely ridiculous. With a 7 million to 1 contrast ratio, the dynamic darks and colors hold so well it is actually scary. More HDMI ports than I know what to do with, integrated USB functionality and optical audio that sounds like a dream.
My USB hard drive has been the source of my media thus far, and a 1080p digital copy of Heat was my first test run. It takes a few hours to get used to the crisp clarity of the presentation, but rest assured, when the famous bank robbery scene came up, the sound, the picture and the action were translated so well that I started laughing out of pure excitement.
If this television is within your price point, buy it, because you won't regret it. Regardless of mounting it on a stand, putting it up on the wall or leaving it with just the stand mount on a nice table, I guarantee that every time you look at the television from any direction, you'll breath out a contented *sigh* and know that what you have bought delivers technology and picture that will only be rivaled when they figure out how to put us into a movie with virtual reality.
